The recent changes in the Zapatista movement have both excited puzzled supporters around the world. Schools for Chiapas coordinators will help to elucidate the emerging situation in Chiapas, Mexico, while sharing intimate experiences from years of working with indigenous Zapatistas communities.

First Womyn of Color Delegation to Chiapas, Mexico Next Meeting
Explore Zapatistas strategies of autonomy and self determination. Identify commonalities and differences in our practice of social transformation.
Intent: Womyn of color coming together nationwide to dream and create the possibility for their self determination and autonomy.
Goals:
Explore Zapatistas strategies of autonomy and self determination. Identify commonalities and differences in our practice of social transformation. Discuss demands that Zapatistas womyn made which challenge patriarchy and violence against womyn. Self healing work in community: How do womyn of color heal from internalized oppression to organize from the inside out and strategize collectively? How do we reclaim our cultural and spiritual practices as tools for social justice and organizing? If you are a womyn of color and interested in becoming a delegate or having new conversations about transformation & envisioning freedom come to our gatherings.
Dates: Oct 13th, Nov 17th, Dec 1st, Jan 12th

What: Discussion: Continuous Zapatista Inspiration
When: Saturday, July 30th, 7PM
Where: Bluestockings 172 Allen Street between Stanton                & Rivington - 1 block south of Houston and 1st Ave.
Cost: Free (but it is a fundraiser)

Description: The Zapatista revolution continues to inspire folks of color here in the center of the U.S. Empire. Come out and hear from Estación Libre's New York City chapter about the situation in Chiapas and its implications for struggles of people of color in New York, and see short presentations about Ashanti Alston and Karl Jagbandhansingh's 6-month sojourn throughout Chiapas. This is a fundraiser for Estación Libre's August Delegation.

Directions:
By train
-- 1 block south of the F train's 2nd Avenue stop and 5 blocks from the JMZ-line's Essex/Delancey Street stop.
